Oh, the America line - that was completely unintentional and I didn't even realize it until you wrote it! Then again, I always liked how Chris Squire quoted the line in Yes' version of Paul Simon's "America", so maybe that had a sub-conscious effect. Most of the "feel" is in the velocities IMHO. I know it goes against the grain around these parts, but it's really just a single instance (SIT) of AD2 with two reverb sends. I don't know how you would approach a song like this. Also, at about 4:09 I did think you were going to break out into West Side Story's, "America." I listened on headphones and thought the mix was pro. How did you record the drums? They sound great. After a few decades I guess it's just in the DNA. Thanks, Wooks! Those bands are never seem to be too far back, no matter how I try. And yeah, can't help the prog thing, but at least I made it part-way thru! Wookiee I am hearing King Crimson, ELP, Yes and a few other influences here Steve very cool Your right, it does tend to drift more into prog territory, but you started out strong! Very nice, complex piece steve! Thanks, Dan! Long-time Bruford fan here (one of my all time favorites) so I think I might know the one you mean. But my brain did hurt on occasion too.ĭcumpian Reminds me of an album I loved by Bill Bruford waaayyyy back in the mid to late 70's. Thanks, Daryl! I just start with a line/section or two (or five) and then start stringing them together, bit by bit, add a little salt to taste. I wouldn't know where to start laying something this complex down. The difficult part was going back to re-record cleaner versions of the initial recordings, and then trying to figure out what the I played. Thanks, David! Nah, no reading here - I can read, I just did not. How did you remember all the obscure notes? Were you reading it? :D:D
